King S-3 #6000 Super Finishing Waterstone with Base

The King S-3 is the classic #6000 finishing stone: the step that takes a sharp edge and polishes it to a fine, refined finish that slices tomatoes and end grain without tearing. It works well straight after a #1000 stone on most kitchen and woodworking steels, and gives a noticeably smoother edge than a #4000. The stone measures 185 x 62 x 15 mm and is mounted on a plastic base.

King waterstones are made in Osaka, Japan, by Matsunaga Stone Co. and are sold in Canada under the Ice Bear brand. They are traditional soaking waterstones: soak the stone for a few minutes before use, keep the surface wet while you work and let it dry fully before storing. The soft, friable bond releases fresh abrasive quickly and builds a slurry that gives the clean, consistent scratch pattern King stones are known for.
